Executive Chairman, Sean Maloney

Maloney is the Henry Wells of Southern Africa. In just under 13 years, he has owned a grand total of 61 forex shops. Maloney began his education in Zimbabwe before moving on to the University of Cape Town for his tertiary studies. He began his career with Unisys in Johannesburg in 1986.  In 1995 he opened his first bureau de change at the Victoria Falls, starting a chain that would grow to 32 branches, the biggest in that country, before the Zimbabwean government shut down the bureau de change industry in 2002. In 2001, Maloney turned his attention to his South African operations in earnest. Since then FX Africa has grown to be the third biggest forex supplier in the country. Maloney is currently the executive director of the company and envisages an even better future for FX Africa. “We are going to constantly raise our own performance bar,” says Maloney. “We are going to shoot for the moon. We may fall a bit short, but we’ll get much further than if we just stay within our comfort zone.”
